Sensor Question

1988 Wrangler YJ with 4.2 258 engine. Recently nuttered in process of removing all the wires and the computer.

This sensor is in the intake manifold toward the front of the vehicle. Is it a Manifold Absolute Temperature (MAT) sensor?

Second, when I removed it a flow of anti-freeze came out of the intake manifold. Should the intake manifold be filled with anti-freeze? I know that it flow from the front to the back to the heater unit, but I though it was baffled. I was under the impression, that if indeed this is a MAT sensor that it registered the "AIR" temp, and should not be in the anti-freeze stream.

Looks like a coolant temp sensor, either for the gauge or the computer.

During the AMC era 258 /4.2L engine, that was the CTS for the electric manifold heater that sat below the carb on 82' and up years. Don't know if Chrysler changed things after the take over in 86/87? You would have a water/coolant jacketed manifold on your 88' to assist in fuel economy, performance and lower emissions.
