Transfer Case

okay... been out of the jeeping world for a while and I'm looking to get my third jeep, a Cherokee Larado, never had one and the guy I'm working the deal with said it's missing the transfer, he thinks it had the np249???? My question is, will a np208 bolt up to the automatic transmission that's in it? It's out of an 84 wagoner. The cherokee is a 95 with the 5.3l enginem he's not sure of the transmission that's in it.

The 208 will not likely bolt up. You need to have a transfer case with the proper mounting flange, and the proper input shaft with specific spline count and length. You can do a google search for '249/242 swap' and '249/231 swap' for some alternatives to the 249. Both searches will show you what I mean by input shaft differences.
