CJ gauges

Ok DIYers, here is a challenge. I have a CJ7 with gauge issues, both my temp and gas gauge are not working, one issue I have is I have lost the jumper/regulator strap and replaced it with regular wire. I have tried to replace the strap but nobody seems to sell them anymore. My next step is getting after market gauges, does anyone know how to properly install those. Thanks in advance for your help.

I found a replacement Bi-metal strip from a junk speedo housing at a junk yard... after burning up one set of gauges.:x

The temperature gauge has a voltage regulator circuit in it that powers the fuel gauge. That is the jumper to the fuel gauge. Lots of times, when the temp goes out, it wipes out the fuel gauge as well.
