TJ's first dent

Okay, peeps...
I've got an older CJ (82) which was relased JUST before pulse air systems.
I've been searching around my jeep looking for the blasted MCU to make the bypass and i can't find it!

Where EXACTLY does this beastie live? was it even PART of my jeep to begin with?

If it doesn´t have an 02 sensor in the exhaust, it probably doesn´t have an MCU. Don´t rmember exactly when they started using the 02 sensor, MAP sensor and the rest of the stuff.

Chinard,

I cannot recall when Jeep went to the full-blown computer controlled emissions-ignition-carb systems (82?, 83?)

But If your Jeep has an ECU (computer), and I don't know that your Jeep does, it would live inside of your Jeep. The ECU sits on top of the heater housing box, roughly under the middle of your dash, and behind the radio, if a radio is installed.

It has been a while since I looked at my ECU, but as I recall, the ECU is attached to the heater box by one screw. There are two or three multi-conductor cables connected to the ECU.

The associated ignition module lives low on the interior of the driver's side front fender, under the windshield washer fluid reservoir. The module is difficult to see from above. Access to the module is easier from beneath the Jeep.

I hope that helps.
