OK finally after a long couple of weekends I got started on the tube doors
Went on C/L found a ($50)cheapy H/F 12 ton bender
Found a good price on 1" seamless tubing $7.50 a stick
Looked online and found a style I liked and got started

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

Looks good. Those are the kind of latches that I've got on my tube doors. I'll snap a pic when I go home for lunch. To make sure they don't rattle around on the striker I take a small piece of rubber fuel line, slice it and put it on the striker so the door latches on to it.

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

You should be able to weld a plate for those to mount to pretty easily, don't you think?

Mine is slightly different but same concept.

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

Nice Actually like your latches better - what brand are they?
I had a problem with these latches because they wouldn't fit the original striker on the TJ so I drilled and tapped a hole just below the OEM striker and installed the larger one

Fits nice and tight but I have to remove it to put on the OEM doors
Now need to make a bracket to mount to the door

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

Got the mounting bracket built and welded on
Going to machine a nice handle later but for now made one out of some aluminum deck plate
Finished the bracket for the door stops
A little primer and maybe paint sometime next week

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

It's looking good. I'm not sure what brand they are as they just came with the doors I ordered from Quadratec. They don't really fit the striker either that's why I put a little piece of rubber hose on it to prevent it from rattling around.

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

I like the powder coating
Haven't checked in my area or even if that's available
Maybe on the next set of doors i'll check my local body or paint shops

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

Primered and today used the Rustoleum black hammered for final coats
Will mount up tomorrow

Re: Looking for TJ Tube Door Latches

Let the last coats of paint dry, applied some wax and put them on
Paint wasn't as black as i'd hope but quality is good
Anodized the brite plate handles just for a different look and over all satisifed
with the end results
Saved money, learned something and did it myself
Hoped this might give someone else some good ideas :welder:

FYI:Got the latches of of Amazon
Auto Loc BCSM (Bear Claw Small)
