    Herd kickdown

I have a 99 jeep grand cherokee limited. It runs great on flat land, had not as much power on hills for being a V8, I feel. The only problem I am having is whether on hills or flatland, it has a hard kickdown, but only after you reached 55 and above and when you let off the gas to slow down when it reaches 55 it kicks down hard. That is the only time it does it.

Basic things to check first would be trans fluid level and trans fluid color. Dark burnt or contaminated fluid may be indicative of additional issues. Performed any trans maintenance as per schedule?
