gas guage backwards

Here's one for you. I put a One year newer gas tank in my 88 pioneer and now the guage reads MT when it's full and full when it's MT. Can I swap the wires or do I need to put the old sensor into the new tank? It's not a life threatening situation it just bugs me! Although I am a little nervous about changing electric wires around on a gas bomb, uh I mean tank.

unhook your battery before you do anything. I would say switch the wires first off. Sorry, not really any help on electrical.

I dont think swapping the wires would reverse the issue on the guage. The Sending Unit in the fuel tank is no more than an adjustable Resistor called a Rheostat. Although i've never tried swapping the wires over to see if it works doesn't mean that it wont. you can try that and if doesn't work you will need to re-install the old sending unit in.
