95 Grand Cherokee running ROUGH

We bought our Jeep a few weeks ago, and noticed when we got it home that it needed coolant. We topped it off, and noticed it was also leaking a little oil. Last week we were off on a mission and suddenly the thing started jumping and jerking and seriously overheating. Replaced the thermostat, no more leak, my guess is it was a faulty seal. Still running really rough. No water in the oil. we pulled a vacuum hose off and it actually made it run smoother. Has any one seen this before? What can we do to fix it??

Which vacuum hose did you pull off? This would help in locating the faulty part.

Pulling a vacuum hose while the engine is running , if it made it run smoother, then it would be safe to assume that the engine was running rough due to a rich fuel mixture. Yes, i would also like to know which vacuum line you pulled. This may help isolate the cause for the issue. Also, is there any SES lamp on?
