Quick question about a 4.0

I have a 95 cherokee with a blown engine. When I call around looking for one what all year models will interchange with my 95? thanks very much. It's a 95 4X4 with a 5 speed.

Thanks,

Gerald

the 93"s have a temp sensor in the head, the later ones don't... i'd go 95-98"

87 and later will likely bolt up, the wiring harness changed each year 94, 95, 96 then a major change in later models 97 on.
A 95 and a 96 have the same O2 senor (to the best of my knowledge), different connector plugs for the O2 sensor etc. Even early 96 and late 96 have some major harness changes.

It's doubtful the flywheel from a pre 91 is compatible. Finding a year motor with the same part number for your 95 CPS may make life a lot easier. But sometimes the only difference in the CPS may be the connection and a new part number.
I've noticed a different part number for the flex plate on many year XJ's, likely the same for flywheel (manual transmission) models. Worth a litte research anyway just to avoid potential non compatibility problems.
