engine swap questions

so i havent ever messed with the grand cherokees so i dont know but i was at the junkyard looking around today and i seen a grand cherokee with a inline 6 4.0 in it.. it was a laredo edition... would that inline six be a direct swap with my xj or not? i read a comment on another forum while i was googling it and it was really vague... he said something about the motor moun ts were in different spots... if anyone knows let me know... the engine has alot less miles than mine so it got me interested

It will fit. U just have to use your mounts. My temp motor is out of a grand.

Ike more question... I di not have the ho motor so do I just use the block and heads?

I put an XJ motor in my cousin's grand, swapped motor mounts and ALL accessory brackets. Intake and even header worked though.

Yup. Just put all your accessories onto the new engine. Intake exhaust etc. That is a good time to get the cracked exhaust manifold welded up. Cuz trust me they are all cracked lol.

i have a 1999 grand with a blown motor and i found a 2000 xj motor and was interested in buying it, would the xj motor fit in my wj?

99 and 00 don't swap. The 99 has a distributor and the 00 has coil packs.
