2001 Jeep Grand Cheerokee Laredo
Codes: P1391, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0340, P0320
Runs rough in idle when in drive or park. Runs ok when driving or neutral. Has shut off once in idle. In idle rpms drop down to 500.
I don't know where to start.
Have had codes P1391, P0300 and P0304 before but they've gone away by themselves. I realized the battery cable was cracked and replaced it and now all these codes come up. If I resent the codes (taking the battery cable off and putting it back on) the truck doesn't run rough until the code comes back on.

p0300 is a random missfire code, p0302 identifies cyl #2,p0305 cyl# 5, p0304, cyl#4...Whats the mileage on your cherokee...p1391 is related to cam position or crank position... missfire codes could be caused by crank/cam sensor... clear codes road test and recheck for codes and start your repair with the first code... good luck

The vehicle has over 151,000 miles. I cleared the codes and two come up a P1391 and a P0340. Also, the cherokee has two cables coming from the negative terminal. One goes down to the starter and the other near the top... the one near the top is loose - could that be causing a short to get these codes?

Any ground problem could cause multiple issues,p1391 crank sensor and p0340 cam sensor... you should get wiring diagram and see if the loose ground is related to sensors, also it could be pcm ground... not sure on that tho...
