1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0

im looking to buy a 1998 jeep grand cherokee that is straight 6 4L engine. It has 240k miles on body, 150k on motor, 100k on transmission. Has dana 35 front and Dana 44aluminum rear axles, it's sittin on 35 12.50 15 BFG Mud terrain KM2 s with less than 10k miles on them. all under an 8 inch lift. How many miles do you think this jeep will last for with good maintenance, also the guy says it needs a front drive shaft and im wondering what that would cost me as well. btw this is all going for $4000 thank you.
 

Not a bad price depending on how it looks and what kind of lift it has. At that height I'd hope it's long arms front and rear or it'll ride like a tank. They've been known to get over 300k with the 4L, not so much with the V8s. Rear axle isn't the greatest but the best that model came with and front is a D30 not a 35, that's a rear axle. You can find drive shafts for around 50 bucks in a junk yard or craigs list but more than likely it just needs new u-joints or the dual cardan joint rebuilt. Both of those are fairly cheap and easy to do.

so i asked the guy what kind of lift it has, he said "its all custom, the previous owner and his buddy who builds grand cherokees built it, its all coil, 7in front and rear, and a few months ago i added 1 3/4 coil spacers to the front to level it out." also what are some way i can tell if it has had proper maintenance so the engine will last longer?

Can't tell much about the suspension from the pics but it's deff seen some trails. I run heims instead of tie rod ends on mine as well but they aren't exactly DOT approved. I'd check things like oil, transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, air filter and such and you'll see how well it's been taken care of. In the shape it's in it looks like a toy someone has outgrown and honestly 3k would be top dollar for it around here.
