4.0L timing check - Can I use a normal timing light?

Yes, to check timing, but it's not adjustable. The timing is controlled by the computer.

So I have to take it to a dealer to have the timing fixed. Or a independent shop with the proper computer

Neither, the timing is adjusted by the Jeep's computer. When the engine is assembled the timing is either spot on or 180* out.

What is your engine doing that makes you believe the timing is off?

Well I've had a lot of issues. I bought it super cheap not running. It takes me forever to start it. I usually can't get it to idle. I did get it to idle one day and a code popped up for the cps. So I replace that. Fuel pressure is good. And I pulled my iac motor. It's nasty. So I'm going to replace that. But if that didn't help I was going to check timing. I have replace plugs wires cap and rotor.
