1995 grand cherokee trunk hatch

For some reason my back trunk won't open, it's acting as if it is locked but it isn't... Anyone else run into this problem or know how to fix it?

Had a 99 xj do that had to take the handle apart broken piece of plastic in there.

You would have to crawl into the back and remove the panel to access the latch mechanism and manually unlock and unlatch it. Sometimes, even when you hear the lock actuator make a sound, doesn't mean it's actually cycling..
