98 Grand Cherokee Electrical Problems

The other morning I tried to start my 98 Grand Cherokee and had some erratic behavior. When I turned on the ignition the first time nothing happened as if the battery was completely drained or disconnected. I metered the battery and it had a charge and was connected properly. The strange thing is that when the ignition was in the off position I heard a buzzing coming from the courtesy lamp relay on the passenger side. As if the coil in the relay was oscillating very fast. I tried replacing the relay but the problem remained.

I suspect a short in the system but I am having trouble tracing it. Does anyone have any ideas or good references where i can find pin out diagrams for the connectors?

Try getting your battery tested first from a local parts store. Your meter might say it has the voltage necessary to start your engine but may have a bad cell. A load test should reveal that if that's the case.
