If you guys read my other post about my dented framerail. You'd know why I am asking this.

I have smittybilt nerfbars that were used on my old Cherokee. I forgot if they needed to be drilled on or not. I am wondering if it would fit on my 01.
HEY... we all need the extra security.

A very good mod for any vehicle that uses subframes or a sheetmetal "frame" that relies on the body to provide stiffness is a set of subframe connectors. They are basically tubes that connect the rear section of the frame to the front, to reduce flex and metal fatigue. You can tie your nerf bars into them for a really rigid and strong setup. My experience is limited with XJs, but I can't imagine them not benefitting from tying in and strengthening the frame. It would also cure several of the common squeaks and rattles that are found on well used XJs. Alot of work, but in my opinion, well worth the effort to reduce frame flex and provide solid mounting for some rocker skids or nerf bars.
