1991 cherokee limited abs pump runs constantly

i have a 1991 cherokee limited w/the 4.0... the abs pump runs non stop and there is reduction in the power assist. will replacing the master cylinder fix this problem?/

The problem would more likely be the ABS pump Module, not the master cylinder. It sounds like the power to the pump motor relay is stuck in the closed position. i don't know for sure if the relay is within the pump module or external. look in the power distribution block for the ABS Relay and check it prior to replacing any components.

there is a recall on that system, it is a bendix 9 system. Do a google search and you will find some info. I am having the same problem. Jeep said there is a lifetime warrenty on the pump.
