power steering

hi all newbei here. can any one tell me if a Cherokee sport 2.4 has a sensor on the power steering ? as I am getting a shudder when going in reverse the engine seem`s to labour when you turn the steering wheel ?. if I build the revers up it seem to be ok ?. the shudder is coming from the turpentine belt tensioner jumping about. As I have said if the Rev`s of the engine are high I don't get any problems. on some motors there is a sensor to help build the rev`s up any idea`s ?. some one must know LoL.

Welcome to the Z, tricky.

No sensor on the steering that I know of, could be a bad steering pump or a loose belt.

If you have a worn Tensioner and Serpentine Belt,i would recommend you replace that prior to condeming a part such as the pump or the steering gear.

hi m8 many thank`s part`s have been ordered. more info they have now done a mod on the 2.4 sport they have taken the idle wheel off and put a smaller belt on.

Tricky, what country are you in? The 2.4 isn't available in the Cherokee in the states.
