Door Ajar lights up on console panel. How repair it ?

Friend's 1994 ZJ. Would like to fix it for him.
Been that way for about a year.
Is there some sensor involved that can be replaced, or what ?
Thanks

Test all the door ajar switches including the rear hatch latch. One of the switches is probbably stuck.

The error is "door" ajar.
Panel even shows a line drawing of the driver's side rear door ajar/open.
No indication of a hatch problem.

It's obvious that there is a problem with the switches/sensors.

Thanks, but better Info. is;
where is the switch located;
how does it action;
how repair;
etc.?

Thanks

The door ajar switch is either on the door jamb(small black plunger switch) or built within the latch assembly with a micro switch. Locate the wires connected to it then check the switch for continuity. The switch is a normally closed switch. When the return signal circuit is grounded, it sends voltage to the cluster to indicate a door ajar and in some cases, turns on the dome lamp via PCI communications to the BCM.

Very good Info. I really appreciate it.
I'm too busy this weekend, but will
try to get to my buddies vehicle next week end,
and will post follow up.
Thanks
