temp sensor

Last week I rebuilt the top end of my 93 Cherokee 4.0 and I busted the temp sensor on the back of the head. I bought a new one and installed it and its reading a temp of around 230 on my gauges. I have am infrared temp gun and it reads 180 ( my t-stat temp) everywhere including the t-stat housing. Did I install it improperly? Tighten it too much or something? Or could it just be bad from the store?

What was it before you rebuilt the head?

Around 210

Possibly bad out of the box. Make sure all the air has been bled out of the cylinder head also.

Replaced the sensor and it works fine now

Still runs at 210 tho
