99 Jeep Grand Cherokee anti-theft problem?

My 99 Cherokee has an intermittent starting problem. The anti-theft light comes on and the check engine doesn't. I have replaced the chip and key. I had the dash gone thru and replaced anything that looked bad. When it start you can unplug the dash and it will still start. When it wont start unplugging doesn't work so it isn't the dash. It's not throwing any codes. It only has 183k on it. Any ideas?

Dealer give you advice? There is a process to relink the key to the Security feature.
Ill see if i could dig up another version.

Also check that your battery isn’t dead or bad ground connections.

This isnt the one but worth a try:

Lock all but the drivers door from the inside using the lock knobs, do not use the electric locks, close and use the key to lock the drivers door, wait at least 30 seconds, then using the key unlock the drivers door, open it up. that should disarm the system, if it doesn't then there is a programming error in the security system BCM or the chip in the key has went bye bye.
