ball joint won't take grease

so after putting the new track bar on my jeep last night I decided to lube the chassis. well when I got to the passenger side ball joint on the knuckle the thing would not take grease. I really had to push hard on the handle of the gun to get it to go in. It seems to have taken a bit, but it's hard to say for sure. any ideas why this could be?

dirt in the fitting... or rust in there somewhere

sounds like you need a new grease fitting...

any way to clean that out? can I take out the zerk and put in a new one or is that permanently attached?

on a ball joint i'm not sure... but i know most fittings are screw in type... and you can buy... you get like a billion for a buck, really cheap

easy to change... they just screw out...
