cold weather whine

I have an '04 TJ. In cold weather there is a whine-kind of like a tea pot whistle-that spontaneously starts. It gets worse with depressing the clutch and seems to fade some with accelerating. It took it to the dealer, of course it didn't make the noise during the test drive. No one there had a clue. It was 20-30 degrees when it made the sound fairly consistantly. any help is greatly appreciated.

Maybe the throw-out bearing was making noise.
Maybe it didn't release the plate fully...??

My guess is the front driveshaft CV joint. It is usually described as an angry sparrow noise. It probably just seems louder with the clutch depressed.

I did some research on-line after your suggestion. I am quite sure it is the front driveshaft cv joint. Some other described my problem exactlylike I did. They guys at the shop had no clue as far as a diagnosis. I appreciate the lead. I am going to take it in soon as it is under warranty. thanks guys.
