HI all,

I have a 90 yj with a 4.2 and just got a 93 yj with driveline problems..My questions are will my 4.2 transmission mount to a 4.0 and the shift motors are different on the front diff. can I make the 4.2 shift motor work on the 4.0.

The shift motors will interchange, you'll just have to change up the vacuum lines a little to match. The '93 only has 2 vacuum lines to the front axle whereas the '90 adds a third line for the 4wd light on the firewall.

You can interchange trannies as long as you keep the transfer case behind the transmission it was behind originally. Good chance the two transfer cases have a different spline input shaft.

I'd just get rid of the front axle vac. system and make a cable system yourself or go with the posi-lok you'll thank yourself later... why modify a bad setup... my homemade cable sys. works great - no regrets
