gonna try that on mine only thing different I'm using a 5 ton air hydraulic jack so when it pops off I dont get nailed with anything lol

I'v got the same problem only i dont think my steering wheel is like yours. mine has a nut in the middle and i could be wrong but i think its threaded on to the collum.

dont take the big nut all the way off.
that way things dont go flyin when it pops loose.

I had to pull the wheel off my '90 YJ to replace the ignition lock the other day and not being able to get to the store for the bolts I needed to use the puller, I ended up using a ratchet strap wrapped around the spokes and around the roll bar. Left the nut on the shaft and when I felt there was enough tension on the wheel I started tapping the nut. Sure enough after a couple more clicks on the ratchet and a couple of more taps on the nut, it popped right off.
