What did you do to your Jeep today?

Placed new front speakers yesterday and pulled the HU out to find wire short

What kind of speakers did you put in? I'm looking to replace the front & rear sound bar speakers. Crutchfields has a big selection with free adapters? Prices are pretty good too.

Kicker plug and play. Kicker has speakers that have the same mounting holes as the jeep and have the same plug.

Installed my WARN VR 8000 winch.

All in all It was an easy install, the driver side fit better than the passenger (no extra trimming). We did trim the inside of the driver rail down to reuse the factory holes for the fuel and brake line clips.

It was 70 degrees and sunny today in Austin...Installed Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks all around. Easy job. Other shocks were very worn out, so it should be a little less bouncy.

Also put on the dust cover (after letting it sunbathe for an hour) - tried to put it on in 60 degree weather, and it was way too tight.

Found out that my motor in my 89 is from 1985! I wonder is my transmission is from the same year? I have a four speed that's stamped T 98. Is that what came in the Cj7's?

No, the t98 didnt come in any cj7. Someone probably thought they were puting a t18 in it.

The Borg Warner T98 used in Jeep models from 1955 to 1972. Because of it's low first gear, length, durability and easy adaptability, it is very popular with rock crawlers and anyone wanting a good dependable transmission. It has a 6.40 first gear.

I 2nd that. I replaced my front and rear with Kiker Marine speakers.. Got them brand new on eBay. Great sound and I don't have to worry bout rain or humidity.... I have been using them for over a year without any issues.

I don't throw my spare in the mix. I figure if I need to buy new tires, I can use my spare and buy only three. I could use my best old tire as a spare afterwards. Sounds kind of dumb, but I feel I'm saving money that way.

I always have it in the mix. There is no guarantee I'll end up buying the same size or type over and over. Then when you need it youncan't use it if it is a different size. Just my thoughts.

Also since your talking speakers, I put Sony Xplod speakers in the year I bought it. They run off the stock head unit. 6.5 3way in the pods, 5.25 in 4way on home made mounts off the rollbar above the sun visor.
If you are using the stock head unit what makes a big difference is the sensitivity of the speaker should be above 90. Otherwise you may get some distortion.
