so i noticed that my oil has a smell of gasoline...
Where should i start? The fuel filter has been replaced not too long ago. Should i start with a fuel pump replacement? or is there other things i should check first.

If your oil smells like gas then you have "blow by". I would do a compression test on each cylinder and decide if you need a rebuild.

The smell is normal to some extent but the compression test will give you an idea how well your rings are.

If you have a carb. It could be leaking down as it sits. The fuel will run past the rings into the oil

Usually happens with the rings don't seal perfectly. Like stated a leak down test will tell you. It can be made worse by fuel pump with too much psi or a leaking carb....but the rings are still usually the issue. If you don't want to do a top end on the thing, change your oil a lot and rock on!
