Just replaced the front driveshaft CV (double cardon) centering ball as the old was basically desintergrated. The old centering ball set-up used a flange seal that covered the ball, the new one (greaseable) does not seem to use this seal, and the local Chrysler dealer states this seal is no longer listed in the system. You can however, buy a u-joint kit for the double cardon that comes with a new seal. I assume this is because you may still be using the old centering ball.
At any rate, my real question is, can someone definatly confirm that this seal is no longer used?....if you happen to look at the new style (spicer) centering ball it seems to have seals built in, one on the ball itself and one in the small caged needle bearing.
