Removing Axle Bearing From Axle Shaft? AMC 20

Removed 2 peice axles all in one piece because the hubs were frozen on. Now I have to remove the bearing to remove the Brake backing plate.

What is the best way to approach this? Do I need to cut the bearing off or is there a trick to removing it?

Re: Removing Axle Bearing From Axle Shaft? AMC 20

Your going to need to seperate the hub. The bearing is press on from the outside end of the axle. The safest/correct way to remove the bearing is with a bearing remover clamp setup or a press. If you are upgrading to a solid axle type, you could just use a cut off wheel on the bearing to get the plate off.
