Speed-o problems

Here's how I believe it to be correct (matching the 2005 diagram)
#1 YL/PK - RED
#2 DB/DG - BLA/BLU
#3 DB/OR - W/OR

What should I look for when doing this?

Make sure the gauges , specifically the speedometer moves on all the calibration points to verify its working. If it does work, but still doesn't function properly with a new VSS, check your circuits to the PCM/ TCM and cluster.

what are these PCM/TCM & circuits? I don't have any other broken wires (that I can see). Does the position of the VSS matter (i.e. 12 o'clock/3 o'clock)?

Yes, you have to have the VSS clocked correctly in the hole in the transfer case tailshaft in order for the speedo gear to engage the shaft.

You'll see speedo gear ranges on the side of the VSS, you want the correct range that corresponds with the tooth count of your speedo gear, to be in the 6 o'clock position when in the hole.

There's a short in the ground wire somewhere between the VSS & C2... tracking that down tomorrow

I installed a TeraFlex SS SYE & in the instructions it says to disconnect the 4WD shift linkage & to my surprise there were some wires under tension... I didn't think much of it but after freeing them I now have my speedometer back... now to get the Blue Monkey™ Speedo-Healer
