H, jeep wrangler 2007 oil leak

I have purchased a 2007 diesel, jeep wrangler and trying to find some help on what is wrong with it. It is leaking oil from somewhere high, i am not an expert and struggling to see where, it is coming down and not only is it around the pan but also seems to be on crank? sensor. i found some paperwork on it from a last service and said the following"....veichle cutting out...suspect oil leaking from rear main into crankshaft sensor, will need to remove gearbox to inspect".....they are quoting $1200 to do just try and find the problem, it is only a drip every day..any ideas would be greatly appreciated.thnaks
