Hydraulic assist ram

Has anyone installed a hydraulic assist ram? I have full width dana 60 up front and Gm 14 bolt out back. I want the assist ram to reduce stress on the steering box and make it easier to power the front end back and forth. I bought the dana 60 with welded spider gears. The rear has a Detroit in it.

I can't help with your ram assist question, but I wanted to say that sounds like a serious Jeep. Post some photos when you have the time.

I want to know more about putting those 60's under it... can you post a pic of straight on? want a look at how wide the stance is with the 60's. I want to go wagoneer 44's but if the width is right for me, I might as well go 60 in the rear and 44 up front. any pics and info would be great...

Ok no problem I'll take pics tomorrow. But if want something that won't break. Dana 60 up front. I have the GM, ford has the high pinion. The 14 bolt Gm corporate is easy to find. They have a bunch of after market parts for it and it's easier to work on. It has pinion bearing support which illuminates deflection and the pinion unbolts from the front of the housing, making it very easy to set up, change locker types and shim. It is also a full float rear end. Which means you can remove axles without taking your wheels off. I'm going to install rear disc brake conversion on mine soon

I've looked into hydro assist some time ago but never installed. There are mods to a Saginaw box to gain the hydronic assist from I've looked into or you could buy it all modified on a place like PSC or AGR. If I recall there is a certain model to use so the turn ratio is the optimal.

Also wheelbase is stretched with longer Chevy Springs. If remember correctly it's 101. Original was 93. It drives fantastic, way better than it did of the assembly line

If you want more pics or info on steering arm tie rod ends ect let me know i can create a link or send you an email link would be better than others can see it. I'm not a great welder when it comes to vertical stick but it came out strong and been through enough beating to say it ain't gonna break

That looks good.. I have seen some that are waayy too wide for my liking, but yours looks good.. If you could send me a link or email that would be great. I have been wanting to do this for some time, I have a 60,s chevy 327 in my 69 jeep and the stock axles will not take the power, I have already been through one set of axles. Thanks and we love pictures here on this site!!

I blew my rear Amc axle pulling my boat out of rather water. Stripped spline, that's when the 60 front and 14 bolt rear went in. I shopped for a while and found my axles as a set used on Craigslist for 800 bucks total both axles. I'll take as many pics as possible. I also used high steer arms on knuckles and an old Cadillac steering arm on the box.

You can see I used thicker Springs up front. The are way to stiff. They are getting replaced with the same ones I used in the rear.. 1350 u joints on driveshaft front and rear at the differentials and 1350/1310 conversion u joints at dana 300 transfer case front/ rear of case. Both drive shafts are 1350 both ends. The 300 is stock 23 spline into early model dodge nv4500 1/2 ton. It's the same tyranny as the 1 ton just smaller input an output shafts. By the way transfer case bolts right up to tyranny. You just need to cut an ear off the transmission to clear the stock transfer case shifter. Not a big deal
