Gas tank 4 dr

How big is a gas tank on a 4 Dr? You read in all the manuals it's a 22.5 gal but I have never out more than 18.5 and that was today and I thought I was going to run out. Why did the manuals say 22.5 if we only have like 19 or 20

Are you going by the gas gage? If so just know there is typically 3-5 gal below E

In my 05 tj the 19 gal tank goes below E at 15-16 gal. I have run it empty and was able to fit 20 gal in the tank to the filler rim.

I was going by the DTE it says Loire fuel under 30 miles. I was there for about 10 miles of stop and go traffic then filled up and it was 18.55 gal

The DTE is not accurate. They don't want people pushing it and then running out of gas so they pad the numbers. You still have a few gallons in reserve when it says you are empty.
