Tires

Because when you buy big tires they are bigger. Also, the wheel elves grant you 3 wishes, you didn't know that ? Oh wait, it must be because when installing larger, WIDER tires, you need the backspacing of the wheel to space the tire away from the Jeep or they will rub when turning, or something like that. I'm not really sure but I am still waiting for my 3 wishes. Where are those damn elves any way ?

Agree with wider or larger tires on stock rims will allow the tire to rub the control arms when near full turn. So if you buy rims with more backspacing the tires will not rub.

If you want to use the stock runs you would need to buy back spacers to accomodate the wider tire to stop rubbing. Also if you going larger than 12 inches wide it start to get hard to get them on an 8 inch wide rim

Jeep! not just a vehicle a way of life.

Usually people with 35's are at 12.5 " wide.

From a couple quick Google searches looks like JK stock rims are 7.5 inches wide
