I have to replace a bad lifter, how many are in my 01 TJ and should I replace all or just the bad one ????

I would do them all - BUT

I am a hopeless optimist -
Have you tied an oil detergent ? "RISOLONE" is my old stand by. Valve medic also.
Worth a try unless more than noisy lifters...

I just changed the oil like maybe 500 miles ago, and I always put slick 50 in with every oil change. Oil pressure never changed and no lights no nothing just omg what is that freaking sound???!!!

Yes I did, and no nothing chaged

you still have not told us which eng.....

trade practice is ALL are replaced -
You should first disassembly and inspect for exact cause of 'sound'

Lifters are A uncommon issue - hum what and why questions - let us know.

We would need a better description of the sound. If possible take a video with sound it might help some one give you some direction on the problem area.

You guys are great have Wonderful 4th and everyone be safe. God bless you.

I do not think the cyl head must be removed....
BUT again which engine 2.5L or 4.0L ?

So yes the head did have to be removed, and I must say it is a he'll of a job. So for anyone who is wanting to know. There are 4 bolts on the driver side that says you have to cut the exhaust to get to them but we didn't have to...

help me learn....
Why did you have to remove head - jeep manual instructions attached - maybe some pictures?

What bolts were cut - why where?

I am always wanting to learn
