Clutch fork

I have a 1993 wrangler 4.0 Ax15 transmission.
Some time ago I swaped out my interior slave to a exterior setup.
my current clutch now has 93,000 miles.
Taking off from a stop sign, I felt a slip and felt a vibration and a screeching noise from my transmission. I pulled over and crawled underneath and saw a piece of spring hanging down from the bottom of my bell housing.
Got it home and started dropping transmission.
broken clutch fork clip. Trying to figure out what stressed the clip to break. Went on line to find images of clutchfork setups because it can be mounted both ways, and factory manual does not specify.
with spring slots for release bearing on passenger side, 1/2 narrower fork reach compared to driver side, which seems to operate fine. If I flip the fork it seems to bind up some. On line I see them mounted both ways?
Just trying to figure this out before reinstalling everything.
Thanks in advance.

Well ok then. I do not know where I received my information at the time I did this conversion, but I am seeing these forks being installed both ways?
