The National Directory of Cell Phone Numbers is about to be published.
Once
this happens telemarketers will have access to your cell phone numbers.
This
will be extremely disruptive and the calls will use your cellular minutes.
If you wish to avoid this, you must register your cell numbers on the
National Do Not Call list as soon as possible. You can do this on-line by
going to http://www.donotcall.gov/

or by calling 888-382-1222 from the
phone you wish to register

Great post, Sully. I just got rid of my cell, but I'll be getting a pre-pay soon. Definitely don't want to pay for any telemarketers at those rates!! Thanx for lookin' out for your bro's (and sis's)!!

RE: jeep jamboree charlotsville va mar18-20

Good to know, my mom 86d our landline, so all I have is the cell, rather have it not ring than be something annoying or unimportant...

RE: Re: RE: Strange noise when turning

Before you panic, research!!!!! no offense Sully, but it really ticks me off when people post this stuff without researching it to see if it is actually true or not.

That having been said.... go ahead and register on the do not call list if you feel the need, but I would not worry about being telemarketed on your cell phone. Do you think they need your number published to call it? I know many who are unlisted that get telemarketed. They randomly dial any and all numbers in the exchange starting with 0000 and ending with 9999. They are not allowed to call cell phone exchanges currently which is why they don't call you now.

Well it doesn't matter if they call it randomly or use a list. If your # is on the do not call registry and you get a call, find out as much as you can from the caller then report them to the same website you registered on. They are supposed to use the do not call list if they are telemarketing.

I know my landline gets zero cold calls now that we have been on the list for several months. It took a good while, but they slowly stopped coming in. I reported the last few and have had none since.

I had to resurrect this in hopes of educating the masses. See this link:

http://www.keytlaw.com/faxes/47usc227.htm

look at section b.1.A.iii this is the section of the law that says it is illegal to telemarket to a cell phone by using any automated dialing system or pre-recorded message, which is how 99% of all telemarketing calls originate. I knew I'd find the law sooner or later.

strange as this is I just got a call like an hour ago from someone from some internet access program. dont know if its a telemarketer but never had a call like that before. and I havent given out my cell # on the net either.

keep in mind, if you ever gave your cell # to any businesss they could be the source of the call. I gave mine to a car dealership and got a followup survey call as a result.
