Just a little invasion we had today out in W TX. I've never seen little birds hide so fast.. The hawks (@50) took over all the pine trees on my block for about an hr before heading out.

Scha-weet! Hard to tell from the pics, what are they? They kinda look like Harris' Hawks (red-tailed hawks). Sunshine and I always count them between here and Wichita, or pretty much anywhere we go. Last weekend when we drove out to our farm, we counted 101 of them over 187 miles, which is a new record for us, shattering the old record of 77 in an afternoon at the lake (shorter distance and less time, though). My dad got me hooked on spotting and counting them when I was just a lad...they were his favorite bird, and now are mine!

I have never seen hawks in groups before. They are always alone in this area of the country. Buzzards (turkey vulture) will flock like that though.

I owe ya a cold one. My bad in identifying the birds. I looked up turkey vultures and bingo.. Pretty cool though.

The second pics were larger and you could tell they were turkey buzzards. Sumpin musta done died round dem parts.

Turkey Vulture and dressing with a little cranberry sauce, mmm mmm good!

FYI...when they find a meal, they start with the eyeballs and a**holes.
