New Tailgate

I purchased a new tailgate for my cj but need the hardware off of the old one. Needless to say after being attached for 33 years it does not want to come off. I have tried PB Blaster and heat (I have broke 2 torx bits). Any ideas would be helpful........

Have you tried a lot of heat? I usually get nuts or screws dark orange before I try to take them out.

If worse comes to worse, you could grind the heads off the top hinges with an angle grinder, that is, if they aren't flush. If they are, you might be able to drill them out just enough to get the hinge free.

There's nothing like a seized bolt...

You can also cut open the back side of the tailgate and either drill the bolt from there or torch it off, this way you dont leave any tool marks on the face of the hinges..

I got the tailgate hinges off the problem I am having is with the mounts that the cables attach to, I will try and cut it open and get to the back side. Thanks for the advice.....
