AEV offers $75,000 Jeep Wrangler Hemi

AEV has built a pretty amazing Jeep Wrangler for 2011 (Start with a 2011 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 Rubicon ($36,177), add the full engine, suspension, appearance and exterior accessory packages ($38,038)).

Some stats:

Power: 360 HP / 390 LB-FT
Transmission: 5-Speed Automatic
Drivetrain: Four-Wheel Drive
Seating: 2+3
Cargo: 86.7 CU. FT.
MSRP: $74,215 (as tested)



AEV fits its JK Wranglers with a so-called high steer kit that optimizes steering and roll center geometry, allowing for better handling. This system also adds a larger steering damper to keep things steady and solid when turning. Of course, this all blends well with AEV's pièce de résistance, the 3.5-inch premium suspension lift kit. The company tells us this package was designed by former Jeep engineers. Special attention was paid to areas like overall suspension geometry and custom spring and shock tuning, to give the vehicle ride quality that's smooth on flat, paved roads, yet capable for off-road tasks. The whole setup includes – deep breath – frequency-tuned progressive rate springs, custom-tuned shocks, a geometry-corrected rear tower and trackbar, rear stabilizer end link, heavy-duty steering damper and front control arm drop brackets. They all work together to create an on-road driving experience that's unlike any other hardcore off-road vehicle. In our estimation, it's even better than the standard off-the-shelf Wrangler.

80k. wow. that's a pretty hardcore jeep though. anyone got a spare 80k lying around I could borrow?!
 
I can remember sitting in Health class in high school looking at a hot rod magazine and Corvettes were $10,000. I remember thinking how could anyone afford that!! now its nothing to pay $30,000. plus for a vehicle! Unreal!!
Thats a cool jeep though!
 
I'd rather buy a stock Jeep & dump the rest of that money into building it myself... but hey: to each, their own...
 

It's nice no doubt, but I just couldn't be myself in it. If I used the hood as a work bench I would feel guilty about the scratches I put on a $75,000 Jeep.

I would buy the stock Rubicon and improve it myself.

Jeeps are not bought they are built. Half the fun is customizing it yourself, but I do on the other hand like the 5.7 liter option

DUH ! ! ! !

For $75,000.00 it BETTER be light years better than an "off the shelf" Wrangler, at the point your handing over the bank draft for $75k, please dont let the ""In our estimation"" part ring through your senses lol.

Seriously though, that 5.7L looks like it was designed to fit in there, it looks great under the hood, and I'll bet you could, if you concentrate, feel some of the other improvements. After purusing e-bay for a min, I think with $75k I'll build a really nice TJ and a buy a DB9. :D
 
It's looks really cool and all but let's be real here... 75k? are you really going to thrash this thing on the trails while still making payments? I mean really...and big deal if it offers a "HEMI" ...nothing like the original ones and to put it in perspective...9 out 0f 10 people wouldn't know the damn difference anyway if it kicked'em in the balls!...all they hear is "oooh it's gotta Hemi!" ....so.... i gotta small block chevy that'll walk all over that thing for a fraction of the cost AND it's street and emissions legal...

with the way the economy is now...the people who can afford a 75k vehicle ARE NOT Jeep people... and the Jeep People may covet such a Jeep mostly have the common sense to NOT afford it.... so..AEV may need to revamp the strategy of what loyal Jeep customers are all about...they'd rather build it then buy it...and a hell of alot cheaper....
 
Meeh, that thing looks like a pig, heavy bumpers, pointless snorkle, lots of useless excess.

I'll wait for the penta-star V6 to find it's way into the JK in a month, will be less power, but better milage, tunability for more power will be there and weigh considerably less. Personally I would rather start with a base modle jk for $23K then drop in some 1 tons, an atlas and still be way under the base price for a rubicon.
 

I just dont see the curb appeal in a JK, I dont understand a 4 door wrangler (its an estate wagon isnt it? and long and low) and the big dumbo ear flares just arent attractive to me, I love my TJ more than I should, if I could get it in the house I would sleep closer to it. JKs look good lifted and on 35"-37"s but its like a lifted truck, not a lifted Jeep to me. I'll stick with the TJs, what they cost make them more versatile, by which I mean the average new TJ owner will within 6 months to a year go at it with a saw or grinder lol, JK owners dont do this as often Ive noticed. People arent likely to pull their JK apart just to see what fits, maybe when they have 20 years on the lots, but even then the 2-doors are going to be rare I think.

I TOTALLY agree with you on this one! I can't see spending 35k for a v6 and plastic fenders.... For a few bux more i could get a very nice used viper...yeah it's apples and oranges...but the point is...when i think of a 35k-40k vehicle...JEEP DOES NOT come to mind....
 
If I spend $35k on a Jeep, it will be about $13k off the lot and I can easily spend $22k building, I mean, a nice set of store bought bolt in D60s are $10k of that isnt it lol

that's about what I spent on Swindle...but it's damn near bullet proof with a 6.0 ltr...way less than 75k....i see one on ebay for 60k right now...AEV just like the one posted here but it's black.
