42RH transmission

I'm putting a 42RH transmission out of a 94 Grand Cherokee into my 88 wrangler. I'm told that it is hydraulically shifted in the 3 lower gears and overdrive is activated electronically. Can anyone tell me how to get overdrive activated without a computer on board?

You'll have to find a wiring diagram for the '94 Grand Cherokee and wire it to a switch. You'll have to also figure out how to wire the lock-up torque converter.

Don't forget the transfer case is clocked higher on the YJ transmission than it is on the Grand Cherokee, so your transfer case front output will hang lower unless the transmission output flange is redrilled.
