**Jeepz.com is an independent website, not owned by VerticalScope, and unaffected by this hack**

If for some strange reason you have accounts at other Jeep forums, your login credentials may have been compromised

VerticalScope owns hundreds of forums including Off-Road.com, JeepForum.com, and WranglerForum.com. These sites appears to have been hit by a second hack (they were the victim of a hack several months ago). This first came to light when a security company found hackers selling access to websites, as well as user data online.

This article was posted 4 days ago, same day VerticleScope made us aware of the security breach:
2nd Breach at Verticalscope Impacts Millions

The screen shot shows a date of November 30 so that was 4 days before VerticalScope required a password change on their site. No email communications to their users informing them about this hack.

Oh great now someone will be posting or spamming under members names. I wonder if unused accounts could be locked or offline. Nowadays you need to give some PII to just get info or look on a website.

The real problem is when people use the same password everywhere. With data from this hack a hacker could likely login to most member's email accounts, and from there you could do all kinds of harm

Having said that, I'm surprised these sites don't do some of the easier stuff, for example, using SSL / HTTPS (the green lock in the upper left hand corner).
