    I've only really fired it up twice, with pretty lame results so far, but for about 3 hours practice total, I don't feel too bad.

    I did find some scrap metal on the side of the road (an Ikea bed frame), so I'll practice some more this week.

    I got my first weld today on some 14 gauge steel that I couldn't break off with my pliers. I'm not going to quit my day job anytime soon but at least things are getting better.

    cool ! I think you may need to turn your voltage up a little. The weld material looks to be sitting on top of the metal, not burnt into it.

    Yeah, I think you are right. I wasn't getting any penetration, then I turned the voltage up from the recommended and got the above. I'll turn it up a bit more and see if that helps.

    Just a tip ! If you have a piece of 1\8 thick metal, and want to weld a piece of sheet metal to it. Concentrate your weld on the thicker metal, once you have your puddle started, weave it into the thinner piece of metal.
