"MSD Ignition True Street is a brutal class that requires all vehicles to be licensed and registered, and each must complete a 30-mile cruise before even setting foot on the dragstrip. After the escorted drive, competitors are given a closed-hood cooldown time of 15 to 30 minutes and must then complete three back-to-back runs for an overall e.t. average. Taking the win was Sticker Dude Designs Greg Zeotmulder and his '80 Jeep, featuring a nitrous injected small-block Chevy with a 9.97 average"

9.97 seconds in the 1/4mile!! Thats around 130mph from a dead stop, in just 1320 feet of track in a CJ7! There are plenty of Jeep BODIES out there going faster, but this thing seems to still be a real Jeep. You can't tell from the photo if he still has a front diff, but it is still front leafsprings located under the axle. What's even cooler is that he runs with no top. That is brutally fast. This dude can make a tuned Viper owner cry with his street-legal Jeep!

That is fast! You can really get jeeps going if you get on it.Only thing is you have no top end and the speed ends at 85.

4.2 sputtering

I got mine goin 95 with 33s and stock gears rippin down the highway in 4th gear turning 2800 RPMs. I have never been so scared in my life. haha. that thing was shaking like rattle.

I have a verified 113-115mph in my 93 2.5l with 36s when it had the 4.10 gears in it. I had a buddy riding beside me in his car so he could verify the speed. I think it had a little more in it, but my passenger was rethinking his decision to ride with me at that point and I though he was going to cry. That was in the YJ, my current CJ with the same setup scares me at 80.

I've had a verfied 110 in my 93 2.5l YJ. This was verified by the state trooper who pulled me over an issued me a nice $350 citation. I was surprised that I could be going that fast. I had the speedo(which ends at 100) at approx. 5:00 and i was scared shitless.

TARSI

I wish I lived somewhere I could drive fast I am too paraniod of getting pulled over never been over 85

i had my tj 4.o with 33s and 4.56 gears to around 105, it was scary as hell, had more in her, but i didnt wanna risk it on the upcoming corner

Hell no Snitty!

Mine struggles to do much over 80-85 tops (Checked w/ GPS), and I've got 32" tires. My 2.5L is in excellent running condition and with mods and I also have the 4.10 gears. If I tried to do 115mph in my Jeep, I seriously doubt I could get there.

Shackles Finally On

my 4.0 with 31's can barely get to 75 on a straight stretch.... i guess it might be time for a rebuild

I ran the old 78 through downtown Birmingham at 85 mph. That may not sound fast, but with 39.5" cut Boggers on Beadlocks, a spring over and hydraulic steering on a crappy road...believe me that's fast. She felt comfy though and had plenty of pedal left. I was talking on the Nextel with my buddy behind me, too.

With my t-18 I do good to beat 70 mph nad then I am feeling bad for the ol gal. Do not like to work her that hard! Fast and Jeep just does not seem to go together! Sorry like Snitty said why? tug

i hear all the time, "my ______ is faster than that muddy box".... yup, sure is... you go drive fast.... i'll go have legal fun

Why? Because I want to. You know, the same reason you do what you do with your own Jeep.

Snitty-- Why exactly did you install that high flow intake, exhaust and gutted cat? The factory Jeep is plenty capable of going down the road without ANY mods. Surely your reasons aren't based in the quest for more performance, that's just silly in a Jeep......right?

Performance and speed are two very different things. You can do things to a jeep engine to get more power but that doesn't mean that they were done to get speed out of it.

I used to race all the time but in a Camaro and a 280Z. It's just crazy to try to race a Jeep that is about as aerodynamic as a brick. One quick jerk of the wheel over 100mph and it's roll time. My jeep won't see anything over 75 i'm sure.

Am I 4:11? I can't remember. I am 2.4 L I know

I have trouble getting up there from 2nd to 4th but once in 4th, I fly. Mine has been 89-90 with no troubles on the interstates before. I'ts new though, maybe that helps?

I think I've been lucky (knocking on wood). I also just put some spacers in and didnt have any rattle or wobble afterwards. I was happy because I read alot of bad things on here about that.

I would never want my Jeep over 100 mph. I had a car that I did that in, and it is insane and very very unsafe. Imagine your reaction time at that speed.

Tarsi, that really bites man!

Lady

Huh? "performance" can cover lots of things. Acceleration, top speed, handling, traction, braking..... the envelope covers many areas.

Got my ride up to 172 mph, still pulling and about another 700 rpm's.

Oh ya that was my bike, my jeep, lucky to see 75 mph with 4.0, 33's, 3:07's
