XJ Spare mounted to the roof

Got a roof rack you want to sell? How 'bout a XJ external mount for a spare tire (roof, swing-out)? PM me if you do.

Make a roof rack from PVC pipe.. you can do it real cheap, mine cost less than $50 to build. It's real rugger and looks good.

I'm also interested preferably in the design of an external tire/fuel mount for the tailgate. Anyone have any ideas, please let me know...

Here's how I made mine. I painted it with a plastic paint after to make i black. It turned out real good. There are lots of pics int he offroading section that show it painted.

bad idea...

Head on collision might send a tire through the other car's window.
If its cold out, It would shatter for sure.

Re: Took motor, transmission, and t case out finally

In a head on collision with my lifted XJ, the last thing a car would have to worry about is my spare

I'm not going that route though. I think when I can afford it, I will get a rear bumper with a swing-out carrier instead. Mainly because of a large tire on a heavy steel wheel on the roof doesn't do much for the already heightened center of gravity.

Nice looking rack you put together there Graewulf.
