Good deal on a couple of project/part Cherokees

Howdy all. I'm new to the board. I just wanted to spread the word on some jeeps I came across. These would probably be a pretty good deal for someone that isn't too far away or that could come out and get 1 running and tow the other. I talked with a guy this weekend about a couple of jeeps that he is trying to sell. Both are white Cherokees, 87 & 89. The 89 has the 4.0 6 cylinder on a 5 speed, and the 87 has a v6 with automatic. Apparently the 89 was running when parked some while ago, but may be missing some belts or hoses or something and definitely needs a battery. The rear bumper for the 89 is dented and presently not attached to the vehicle, but the seller still has it and it will go with the jeep.

The seller doesn't know what's wrong with the 87. The front section and right front fender have been taken off of the 87 and put onto the 89. The 87, however, has the nicer body from what I can see in the pictures he sent. The driver side front window is broken out of it thoughl. These vehicles are located in Highlands NC, near Franklin (as if that's a big help ). He's asking $400.00 for the pair. You can email him @ kyle@highlandsproperties.com or his cell phone is 828-507-4934. I was thinking seriously about buying them and getting at least 1 good vehicle out of the deal, but I just don't have the time to screw with it right now. I found a really good deal on a stock 88 Samurai from TX (no rust) with only 55k on the clock and I'm going to go with that.

I have uploaded the pictures that he sent me to my web site and will link to them individually below if anyone is interested in looking. If he sends more pictures, I will try to post them.

Hey, dptyrob, welcome to Jeepz!! Good folks here, believe me. Sounds like you're from my neck of the woods (or mountains, if you will). I work for the NCDOT and spend some time in Highlands, Cashiers, and Franklin. Wish I had the space to put those 2 Cherokees - it does sound like quite a deal. Sorry to hear you're getting a Samurai, but a good deal is a good deal, I guess. At least you didn't go for a H1 or some godawful "SUV"! There's lotsa great places to play with that Samurai around here, so have fun!

Yes sir welcome from me as well. I have a good friend in Mountain City GA runs the big Auction Business and Sea Food Resturant and I also have friends in Dillard who have an Antique Mall. Small world after all. Now all sing along. tug

I actually live over in Clyde, but I used to hunt a lot down around Franklin in Coweeta and Nantahala, over into Rainbow Springs. I also like Fires Creek (I'm a grouse hunter by the way, just non-practicing for the last few years). I'm looking forward to getting back out in the woods and doing some grouse hunting this year, but I don't have a dog anymore, which the best part. It's still nice to get out and walk around and scare one up here and there, maybe burn off a few rounds. Don't wanna hit 'em, cause then you gotta go find them and then you gotta clean them. :)

The best part besides the walking is the driving on those old back roads. I've never been into the hard core rock crawling or mudding, but I love a good logging road every now and again.

Well, it is a small world! I live in Waynesville but go to church at Louisa Chapel there in Clyde. I've got to say that you've been doin' some hard core muddin' this past month. Man, I couldn't believe the Pigeon River could get that high! Hope you came through allright. I don't do a lot of "hard-core" wheeling (gotta drive this Jeep to Sylva and back every day), but I do love them loggin' roads! Maybe we'll cross paths someday.
