2006 Tj Naked Jeep or "Sid"

And the Build Begins! I have the lift, just need exhaust to fit the new lift, and an SYE short shaft kit, and shocks and thats it. in the mean time, i bought larger tires despite being stock. In the course of a short wheeling trip, the tires grabbed the fender and bent the lip that the flares screw onto. now this will just not do. instead of bending them back. I thought i would cure my boredom. it was a beautiful day for a jeep mod.....

More to come on this build. next couple of weeks ill begin putting the lift on.

Looks pretty cool, bet it was really fun to do. However I'm not a real big fan of the side lights being mounted the way they are. If I were you I'd get sheet of metal bend it to whatever angle that corner is at, cut out a hole for each light and wield that on either right at the corner or back a little. That's just me tho. But good job, looks like you have done this a few times.

A friend said gthe same thing. It would be cleaner. Ill have to give it a shot. And thanks! It was fun to do! And that was the first time id done anything like that. Bought the bender that day. A ton of stuff will come out of that bender. :)

HAHAHA. sooooo that couple weeks turned out to be longer than expected..... but that was expected :shades:

This thurs, the 15th of sept, it begins however! wahoo! i plan on following these instructions to install my lift. i will post pics of the progress, and ill post some pics of the pile of parts if accumulated. Also, i was curious what everybody else has done with their Stock parts. I was going to just hand em out as people want/need em here on the forum, but that also leads me to my next inquery. Insurance. Do I tell my insurance company what im doing? it is still my DD, and still will be after the lift. Im currently full coverage as im paying the thing off still. its happening anyway, so its just a question, not so much a concern.

Also, if anybody has any helpful hints, any would be greatly appreciated. Ive got a bad throwout bearing that is getting replaced at the same time and ive heard some stripped torx horror stories.

JEEP!!!!

I have an idea, move the spot lights currently mounted on your fender to some windshield mounts and replace them with the old style Jeep turn signals. Should be able to find some from an old mail truck. Or find some aftermarket ones, something with the side markers incorporated like modified trailer lights. That would leave the fenders free of obstructions and still keep you legal. Looking forward to seeing the finished product...

That is a flipping great idea! Ill eventually get "real" tube fenders, but I will definately look into that! Nice. And the list continues to grow.....

JEEP!!!!

The insurance issue is a double edged sword... Depending on how the policy is written, you run the risk that if it gets stolen...the insurance co. Won't consider reimbursement of the value of any mods/accessories that are not Reported to your agent/documented in policy....

However... The minute you tell them about your mods... 1 of 2 things are likely to happen... 1) they drop you or 2) they re-evaluate your "risk" factor and jack up your rates.
So, i would ...take pictures, keep your receipts( just in case you ever do need to file a claim and there's any possibility of some reimbursement) and let it go at that..

Alrighty, so got a little bit done yesterday. Got the upper and lowers off on the front, replaced the front brake lines with new extended lines, cut the lower CA mounts off the front and ground sand and painted them. Bump stop extensions installed and painted black as well. Had trouble getting the drag link off the pitman arm, also trouble getting the pitman off of the steering box. Soaked it with PBlaster so hopefully this morning it cooperates. if not Ill try a little heat. the pickle fork just wasnt cutting it last night. Keep your fingers crossed! here are some pics of thus far.....

havnt posted in a while, but Its done! well, never truly, but that will never change. got the lift on however, and i love it. they advertise that it rides better than stock and i must say that i agree. still running the 32in tires though. Saving for the shaft upgrade, lock and re-gear and then i will add larger tires. by then the tires will probably be bald

That's a good amount of lift. How does it handle on the street now?

So far so good! I'm still waiting on the rear drive shaft and extended rear sway links. Links first. I'm lucky enough to work 5 miles from home. Under 35mph so far. After I work the kinks out ill get ballsy with it. It rides stiffer, but I expected it to. Its a work in progress.

so its been a while since ive been on here.... I dont like the amount of lift that i have. its way to tall, i would never have guessed that 6in would have made THAT much of a difference. holy cow. anyway, looking to go 3.5 maybe 4.:( hopefully my control arms will dial down that far. we shall see. hilining the front fenders and hood, eventually the back. sheesh. lol. it will never end will it?

on the other hand though Im fairly impressed with it. i just dont like the feeling of almost rolling over on every rock or hill i climb. it makes for a good snow basher though with the clearance. arg.

my plans have now gone to 1tons, stretch and hiline. $$$$$ good thing im getting lots of OT! :p
