2003 jeep wrangler x v6 4.0L

My question is that when my jeep is idle if i don't press the gas padel to make bring the rpm it will die out, it works fine all i have to do is keep the rpm's up.
 

Check the T.body first. Make sure it's clean from carbon build up and the IAC is not getting stuck.

X's 2. If its a v6 its a 2.5 or 3.7. 2.5's haven't been around since the 80's and I'm not sure if they put the 3.7 in wranglers
 
i think they started putting the 3.7 in the wranglers a couple years ago. i used to repo cars and some of them we picked up had a v6. This was only within the last 3 years if i remember correctly.
 
It's the 3.8 liter, not the 3.7 L that's found on the JK Wranglers. 2.8 turbo diesel is on the export only.
