I currently have a 4.0 6 inline... Engine sounds like it has a few marbles dinging around inside...

What motor should I replace it with? Jeep is an 8-10 in body...

You can replace it with anything you've got money enough to buy.
My vote is, Build a stroker out of it and put it back in.

Had my 4.0 stroked about 20,000 miles ago. Love the power and performance. Best upgrade I have ever done.

I'm saving my $$$ for a 5.3L V8. My only issue is I need to buy a trans as well. So it will be about a year or so till I get it all ready to go.

And a transfer case, And a beefier rear axle, And a heavier front suspension , And a new radiator. And the list goes on.
Not trying to discourage you, But You're going to be spending a lot of money for this. If you have to save up for the engine, You might want to rethink this. If you decide to go ahead with this please keep us posted on the build.

was a mechanic professionally highly recommend the 4.0 inline 6, its simply the best one to own in my opinion.
