    valve cover off

Replace the plastic cover with an aluminum valve cover. That plastic cover was a BAD idea! Scott

My CJ keeps blowing valve covers...

Are you using a crankcase breather/hose(the hole in your valve cover closest to the fire wall)? If not pressure will build up and cause problems/leaks.

    '85 cj7 wont start

Did you get the right switch? There is a switch for standard column and a switch for tilt. I still think it's the switch because you say you are getting spark when you turn it off. The switch reassigns power routes as you turn the key and it sounds like you are getting a transfer of power in...

    whisteling

Sounds like a bad vacuum leak. Take some carb cleaner and spray around the area while it is idling and when the idle stumbles you have found your leak. Scott

    Straight Pipe

I run a 258 with no CAT Converter and a Flowmaster. It is a little louder than I would like, but if I didn't have the Flowmaster it would be really obnoxious. Definitely put a muffler back on. Scott

What do I check next, she won't hit a lick...

Axle probs YJ Please help I have a stock 84 CJ7 with the Weber, the Nutter bypass and the TFI upgrade. I have removed the ECM and its wiring harness (only had to cut 1 wire) and have eliminated all vacuum except to the vacuum advance - no emissions, pulse air, etc. Got tired of not being able...

    gas guage?

Most of the time it is caused by a bad ground. Check the ground at the tank first. If that is good you can check the resistances at the gauge - S to Ground=68-72 ohms S to I=19-21 ohms S to A=19-21 ohms I to A=Zero I to Ground=49-51 ohms A to Ground=49-51 ohms If you can get to the top of your...

1975 Factory CJ Column Mount Tachometer Wiring

After taking the cover of of the tach I discovered that the light is on a separate circuit - orange=light power, black=light ground. So the question is the red, red/white wires. Scott

1975 Factory CJ Column Mount Tachometer Wiring

I recently acquired a factory column mount tach for my CJ. Can anyone enlighten me on the wiring scheme? Four wires - Black Orange Red Red/White I am guessing black is ground, orange is the distributor, red is power, and red/white is accessory power. Am I right? Scott
